Make the First Call or Email

The first step in getting started and often the most difficult is to make the call. During a typical call we will discuss a little bit about the circumstances leading you to therapy, answer questions or concerns you may have and schedule a time to meet.

First Appointment

Our first appointment is about creating a relationship, beginning to learn about each other and understanding what brought you to therapy. Developing a history of the challenges that brought you here and developing goals are important elements of this first appointment.

We'll also take care of any necessary administrative tasks which include the filling out of some paperwork and going over office policies.

Subsequent Appointments

Subsequent visits typically start with a short “check in” and recap of the events since the previous appointment. We will continue to work on what brought you to therapy, further define and examine progress towards your goals, and identify solutions and “homework.”

The process of therapy continually builds upon cumulative learning from previous appointments and work done between meetings. There will be times when we discuss tasks to be completed during the time between meetings, which we'll then discuss during the following session.

Forms and Paperwork

Prior to our first appointment you will need to fill out a client history intake form and familiarize yourself with office policies. We will go over these forms during our initial meeting and answer any questions you may have.

These forms can be emailed to you in advance or with an early arrival can be completed in the office. Please let me know if you plan on arriving early for your appointment.
